2009 Oro Valley Holiday Parade
Parade Staging and Parking Instructions
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY – THERE ARE CHANGES
FROM PREVIOUS PARADES
A. All parade participants must check in with a Parade Monitor NO LATER THAN
8:00 a.m. The parade check-in areas will be in the east parking lot at Ironwood
Ridge High School (2475 W. Naranja). Staging will be on Naranja beginning at
8:30. If you are late, you may not be allowed to participate in the parade.
B. Drop off and turn around areas for all participants will be at the main
office entrance of Ironwood Ridge High School. The only road open to/from the
staging area is Shannon to Naranja. La Cholla/Naranja intersection will be
closed at 8 a.m. Naranja will be closed at 8:45 a.m.
C. Due to an event at the high school, there will be no parking in the student
parking lot or the fine arts parking lot. There will be some parking availability
in the east parking lot (bus area).
D. Restrooms at the east end of the high school will be open for your convenience,
so please make plans to use them before your parade entry starts to move out.
If you intend to bring any refreshments (coffee, etc.), please make plans to
dispose of trash appropriately. If you have animal entries in the parade, please
plan to pick up and dispose of any droppings.
E. The parade will continue rain or shine, so please be prepared to bring rain
gear and umbrellas for wet weather.
F. Please obey the directions of the Parade Monitors and Public Safety Personnel.
Yellow Flags=Slow Down; Red Flags=Stop.
G. If your entry includes a musical performance group (bands, choirs, cheer
teams, dancers), please perform continuously along the route. There will be
an opportunity
for a maximum one minute stationary performance IN FRONT OF THE ANNOUNCER’S
BOOTH. There will be a “jingle bells” rope to signal your stop/start
area for performance.
H. Participant pick up will be in the Oro Valley Library/Town Hall Campus Parking
Lots. At the end of the parade (entrance to the Library on Naranja), walkers
should continue through the Library Parking Lot and Oro Valley Campus. Motorized
vehicles should continue eastbound on Naranja.
I. Please Note: Neither the Oro Valley Parade Committee, Inc. (an Arizona non-profit)
corporation nor the Town of Oro Valley carries or provides any liability insurance
to cover participants. If you participate, you are assuming the risks normally
involved in a parade. As a participant, you may wish to consider seeking your
own insurance protection.
